ESF Delta Mini-Grants Program

In order to assist Mississippi Delta public schools, community organizations, and faith-based organizations increase the number of students who complete high school and enroll in college, ESF's Delta Mini-Grants program anually awards mini-grants for worthy projects that integrate ESF Delta Scholars program components into after-school services.

The winning projects for 2007 are:

  • A $2000 mini-grant was awarded to the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and Delta State University to provide:
    1. A regional forum for 200 public school administrators designed to address the question of “How do we get more students ready for, to and through College?” and
    2. Three on-site professional development workshops in Delta public school(s) on “Creating a College Culture.” School staff will receive strategies to increase college awareness among parents and students.
  • A $1000 mini-grant was awarded to North Delta Youth Development Corporation in Lambert to establish an on-site college access center which will include a resource library and a college access counselor. Staff member Lartasha Jones will coordinate the activities with training from the Delta Division.
